Sixth Annual
Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair
YOU Are Invited to Become a Judge on March 29, 2008 at the
Fourth Annual Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair
Kentucky State-Wide Science Fair -
The 6th Annual Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair (KY-SEF) will be held in Richmond, Kentucky,
on March 29, 2008. More than 175 of the finest young scientists from grades 5-12 from across the state
will compete for awards and scholarships. The senior high school competition is affiliated with the
Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (IISEF) and the best senior high projects from the
statewide KY-SEF will be entered in the ISEF competition in Atlanta in May.
The International Science and Engineering Fair is a program of Science Service,
a nonprofit organization devoted to advancing the understanding and appreciation of science
through publications and educational programs.
Judging -
One of the most valuable experiences these student finalists can have is the
opportunity to discuss their research with established members of the scientific and engineering
communities. This year we need over 100 professionals including university faculty, medical
researchers, industrial scientists, engineers, and representatives of private and governmental
research centers to volunteer their time to interview and determine awards for these deserving
young scientists.
To judge at the high school level, judges should have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent), a M.S. degree, or at least three years of professional experience in the category they wish to judge. High school teachers and graduate students may judge in the middle school competition. Affiliated science fair directors and fair Official Party members are not eligible to serve as judges.
All judging activities take place between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 , at the Alumni Coliseum on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. Judges are needed in each of 18 scientific categories at the high school and middle school levels.
Signing up - You are invited to take part in this worthwhile event and share your time and expertise as a judge. You may sign up as a judge by CLICKING HERE. You are asked to select three areas in which you feel qualified to judge and to provide both a mailing and an e-mail address.
All of us involved with the Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair appreciate your time and interest in this most worthy educational endeavor and look forward to working with you in Richmond on March 29.
